Tips and Techniques for Blog Commenting

Building a blog is probably going to be the easiest part of starting your online business, but marketing your blog is going to be considerably more difficult.

In order to be successful in internet marketing, you should do everything with both your reader and the search engines in mind. Everybody’s aim is to be on page one of the search engine results pages (SERPs) because theoretically that’s where you’ll make the most money. One of the many important things you will have to do to get your blog onto the first page of the Google SERPs is obtain backlinks.

The easiest way to get backlinks is by leaving comments on other people’s blogs. These blogs should be “Do Follow” blogs, which basically means that along with your name and an e-mail address you can leave a link to your site.

Below are our three main tips for better blog commenting:

1. You should leave useful and knowledgeable comments on other people’s blogs. The blogmaster is offering you something of value, i.e. the chance to gain a backlink, so you must leave a comment that adds value to his site in return. Leaving comments such as “great site dude” is of little value to the blog owner and will probably be deleted.

2. Make sure the blog where you leave your comment is relevant to your own website or blog. Google and the major search engines take this into consideration, and you will improve your ranking only if the blog is relevant. For example, if you have a site about dog training, its pointless leaving a comment on a site about flower arranging.

Tips for Blog Design

A few years ago many website designers used to incorporate as many bells and whistles onto sites they were designing as they possibly could. Unfortunately back in those days many people had dial-up and they could not enjoy these features. Adding flash to a site may look fabulous but these days it really only works for music sites and perhaps Disney. You will find very few sites at the top of the Google SERPs that contain flash these days. This is what Google says about the use of Flash:

“Googlebot can typically read Flash files and extract the text and links in them, but the structure and context are missing.”

Some studies have shown that human beings don’t actually like sites built with Flash anyway. Their first impression is the only reason your site exists is to sell them something, consequently even if you have written the most interesting and useful articles, the reader will leave quickly.

The term “less is more” applies. Some people who were getting poor results from their blogs have experimented by removing a lot of the advertising, and have found that their bounce rate has improved and click-through rates have increased dramatically.

One thing you can do before designing your blog is to go and look objectively at other people’s designs. That is not to say you should copy them, simply find blogs that you find pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate.

Ease of navigation is extremely important to the reader. If they cannot find their way around your site easily, then guess what – they’ll leave. Navigation buttons should be obvious, and the titles of categories should be written not only with SEO in mind, but with your reader in mind also.

Launching An International Rewards Programme? – Top Tips

Globalisation is essentially the unification of economies by the removal of barriers that are not conducive to international trade. Societies, cultures and trade has also become increasingly integrated through technological advancements in communication and transportation. This increased economic globalisation and relentless rise in international trade has created an increased need for international reward and recognition programmes. Multi-country reward schemes have a specific set of challenges that need to be considered and addressed to ensure a successful programme.

1. Ensure that rewards are issued in local languages; multi-language functionality can be the most valuable feature of a global rewards programme. However make sure it is accurate, errors in translations can be viewed very negatively.

2. Make sure you cater for countries that have more than one national language e.g. Canada has Canadian French and American English as national languages. To ignore one is to isolate your target audience.

3. If possible ensure that any rewards dispatched are denominated in the local currency to maximise the impact of the rewards e.g. Recipients in France should receive rewards denominated in Euros and recipients and Denmark should receive rewards in Danish Kroner etc.

4. Different cultures are motivated by different rewards. A local reward offering which is desirable in each country participating is required. Try to incorporate as many of the following reward types to ensure demographics and cultural differences is not a factor in your recognition programme;

Gift Vouchers & E-certificates Virtual & Gift Cards Closed & Open Loop Cards Experience Vouchers

5. The same reward value in one country may have a completely different value in another, so take this into account. Equity between the different countries involved in the scheme is essential.

6. Ensure that full customer support and after care services are available internationally. Considerations here relate to differences in time zones and languages.

5 Easy Tips To Gain New Business

Fed up with spinning your wheels and chasing one system after another? If you’re looking for clarity, focus and hands-on results, use these 5 coaching tips to gain new business-fast.

There’s a lot of great tips out there for presenting, selling and winning new business. But sometimes…it just feels like you’re chasing your tail trying one thing after another. How can you land on something that works…and yields repeatable success?

My coaching clients often ask me for tips to gain new business. When we sit side-by-side, we brainstorm specific actions that build on individual strengths. While we can’t dive into such detail in this post, here are 5 essentials that consistently attract new business.

Tip 1. Be Authentic
Much like dating…be yourself from the first encounter. Speak openly and naturally so that clients understand your business and your style. If you start out in a genuine and real manner, it’s easy to keep going.

Authenticity is your strongest asset. Why? Because there’s only one you. When prospects and clients get to know you…they’ll rely on your open and honest style.

Tip 2. Use Your Strengths
Last week I coached a gentleman who was terrific with metaphors. He was off the chart in coming up with stories, examples and anecdotes. But he was trying to present dry data without any emotion. Guess what my advice was?

Use your strengths. There are plenty of people who would give an arm and a leg to whip up metaphors so quickly and easily. Go with that.

Now of course, if your strength lies somewhere else-use that. If you’re a wizard at the whiteboard, grab a marker and show your sketches. If you’re a master at words, spell out your message so everyone gets it.
